Dior Homme's Midsummer Night's Dream

Today, Kris Van Assche showcased yet another strong sportswear infused, sartorially focused men's collection named 'Latenight Summer' at the Grand Palais in Paris.

Here are a few of our favourite moments and need-to-knows from the show:

Chic College Boys

This time around the mood oscillated between late 80s inspired eveningwear and athleisure flavored pieces and accessories. Our favorite picks? The too-cool-for-school basketball shirts with a reversed 'Paris' print which offered a healthy dose of street cred, the sneakers in acid colored hues, the wide legged, sporty suit trousers, and the photo-printed bomber jackets all stood out as well.

Music-flavored Nostalgia

Imagine a mix between a late 80s, early 90s soap opera and a cool dive bar and you can pretty much hear today's Dior Homme soundtrack: R.E.M's 'Loosing my Religion', Depeche Mode's 'Enjoy the Silence' and Radiohead's 'Creep', among other former chart toppers, made for a perfectly nostalgic soundtrack.

Craftsmanship with a Twist

The traditional Christian Dior atelier logo was everywhere. On the seams of softly tailored tuxedos, on patches applied to pockets and sleeves, nonchalantly worn on ribbons around necks, and as an all-over print pattern on evening wear inspired suits. Another nod to craftsmanship was made through seams stitched as abstract motifs on the surface of tuxedos and painted prints depicting hooded figures.

Coming-of-Age Romance

There was a dreamy and youthful spirit to this collection, somehow reminding us of a Dawson's Creek episode (thanks to the show's soundtrack) and pulling us back into high school prom night romances past, while drawing us firmly into the runway present.
