Blugirl Ready To Wear Spring Summer 2016 Milan
Maybe it was the mini ruffle skirt or the panty bottoms... but Blugirl's Spring/Summer called to mind the time dad showed up at the disco and we got grounded. Big time.
Characterized by bubbly, puckered summer blouses and see-through tunics, the collection had an "if I only knew then what I know now" air about it. It was all a little bit of naughty, a lot of naiveté, and a potent dose of self-centeredness, which was interpreted by the loud and proud golden "Anna" earrings and belt buckles – sure to resonate among the selfie-crazed millennial crowd.
Like past collections, Anna Molinari's fresh Blugirl line has a lot to do with who she was as a young girl and the youthful spirit that surrounds her today.
This Spring/Summer in particular was inspired by the spunky blonde's swanky younger days on the shores of Italy's Forte dei Marmi, a beach destination for Milan's most fashionable.
"It really reminds me of my younger days at Forte dei Marmi. It is dubbed ‘Joie de Vivre’ because for me, really, joy entails living by the sea," the designer said backstage before the show. It is a bit eco-centric," Molinari said, adding that the ANNA plates can be personalized upon request.
Duchesse dresses with butterflies pointed to Molinari's love for floral motifs; while floor-length shirt dresses in poplin and denim showed the goody girl, church-going side that the Blugirl puts forth when her nonni are in town – all of which makes your older and wiser self mutter through the snarky side of your mouth: Ya right.
